Extensive notes on front and back endpapers and half-title concerning general statistics of the United States from 1800, electoral rules and electors from the 1800 election, the differences between the Federalist and Republican parties, the political differences between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson and the dissolution of their friendship, the Quasi-War with France, the Jay Treaty, the Alien and Sedition Act, a chronology of important personal events in Jefferson's life, the Whisky Rebellion, taxes, the Provisional Army, Alexander Hamilton's economic program, election results, and public reaction to the election results. Annotations by Brian Lamb in the margins and underlining of pertinent phrases throughout the book. Brian Lamb asks: "What was an 'Ultra Federalist?'" "What were the Democratic-Republican Societies?" "Did Jefferson win through a bargain with the Federalists?"
