Notes on front flysheet: Howard Ickes p. 292. Running for President 1932-p. 299. He with exception of Lindbergh did a lot for flying p. 244. Underlinings/notes: Underlinings: 9 present day people (Johnny Carson, Roy Rogers, Bill Crosby, Bob Hope, Russell Baker, H. Ross Perot, etc) who have some of Roger's attributes. Lamb marks details of Roger's family life and childhood, education, early career and his move into and rise in vaudeville. A great deal of attention is also given to Roger's political involvement and the growth of his writing career and significant publications. Roger's European trip in 1926 found him meeting the Prince of Wales, Lady Astor, Mussolini, Armand Hammer. Notes: Lamb notes important events in Roger's life: "Father fought for the South," "Mother dies in 1890," "Never mentions step-mother," "Sister May and the murders," Rogers's habits: "didn't hunt, fish, drink, fight," influences: "Ben Franklin, Davy Crockett, Abe Lincoln," morality "Follies and nudity." "Got humor from his mother." Lamb marks Rogers's philosophy, his treatment of blacks and encounters with people such as Warren G. Harding, the Prince of Wales, Charles Evans Hughes, and Charles Lindbergh.
